Writing fever swiftly swept the school in our fabulous Writing Week!
Each child in the school, from Nursery to Year 6, enjoyed designing and creating a magic carpet at home. We had sequined carpets, tasselled carpets and even furry carpets!
These magic carpets were to take us all on a journey - a journey to a faraway place full of curious characters and splendid settings. Nursery and Reception journeyed to the farm, whilst Year 1 and Year 2 were transported to the woods. Year 3 and Year 4 flew into the rainforest, as Year 5 and Year 6 rocketed up to space. Children (and teachers alike) took pleasure in a fun-filled week learning about their settings and exploring the many stories which could take place there.
By the end of the wonderful week, every child became an author through planning and writing their very own story. Children were not only authors, but skilled illustrators and publishers too! Handmade, bound books were produced by the children and filled with beautiful drawings and decorations.
Finally, parents and carers were welcomed into school at the end of the week so that children could practise their story-telling skills with a real audience. The children also ensured they had a well-earned rest as they sat back, relaxed and listened intently to the lovely stories of their classmates and friends.
Teachers, parents and - most importantly - the children had an amazing week.
At Sellincourt, we take pleasure in sharing imaginative learning journeys with the children; we aim for Writing Week to be one of many.
